Tinwell Rutland
We have recently had the pleasure of re-slating the front Collyweston roof of this attractive home in Tinwell, Rutland. The owners of this property called upon our expertise when their Collyweston slate roof came to the end of its natural life.
Restoring a Collyweston roof to its former beauty, is a skill our team has learned over many years. Working with time-served traditions and modern roofing techniques, our team transformed this property to its former glory.
The process of restoration started by removing the front roof, complete with its three dormer windows.
We then laid a new breathable membrane before removing the existing Collyweston slate ready for re-dressing.
Our team of experts re-dressed each individual slate, ready to be re-used. Of course, we couldn’t re-use all the old slates.
Therefore, we replaced these with reclaimed Collyweston slates.
For the dorma windows, we used the traditional method of turned valleys. We installed new lead soakers and rendered cheeks with new lime mortar fillets.
This project showcases the colours of Collyweston slate beautifully.
